Position Overview

The Irrigation Technician I is responsible for assisting the Irrigation Technician II with the day-to-day maintenance of the irrigation system and golf course in addition to any and all general maintenance duties on the golf course as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Repair irrigation heads, wiring, piping, satellites, pumps, valves, and trouble shooting

• Monitor pump stations in absence of irrigation tech

• Monitor daily water distribution on the golf course in absence of irrigation tech

• Maintain and repair clubhouse lawn and landscape irrigation system

• Adjust irrigation head arc and output

• Use electronic wire locating device to locate and repair underground irrigation wiring

• Assist in various maintenance activities as required

Requirements

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Problem solving and critical thinking skills

• At least 2 years’ experience in golf course maintenance, preferably at a resort golf facility

In addition, the ideal candidate will be or have:

• Enthusiastic about the game of golf

• Experience with Rainbird irrigation system

Physical Demands

• Ability to visually inspect golf course

• Ability to perform moderate physical work, may be required to lift 100 lbs. occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to five hours without sitting

Work Environment

This position will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions in performing the duties of the job.
