Harriosn County Sheriff’s Dept. is firing for a full-time night shift position. We work 12 hour shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM, with rotating weekends off. Applicants must be able to work night shift, rotating weekends, and holidays.
Job Description
  • Answer 911 and non-emergency calls, obtain as much information as possible to determine appropriate response in the shortest amount of time.
  • Dispatch for Law-Enforcement, EMS, Fire, and occasionally other agencies.
  • Maintain status of all units on calls during emergency situations.
  • Provide medical instructions on phone as needed prior to arrival of first responders.
  • Operate, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, radios, computers, and phones.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications.
911 Dispatchers must be able to:
  • Follow instructions, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality/security of HIPAA, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and the dispatch center.
  • Adjust to high stress and fast paced environment.
  • Be able to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Be aware of all surroundings.
  • Memorize and use codes, numbers, maps, and geographic locations.
  • Complete department training process.
Applicant Qualifications:
  • Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Submit a valid form of identification
  • Pass criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Basic computer skills and listening skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Benefits:
  • Starting pay is $21.20 per hour with shift differential of $0.30 for night shift

The interview process will consist of the following:
1.) Submit application.
2.) Interview with the department head and Sheriff
4.) Successful applicants will then interview.
5.) Drug screen.
6.) Conditional offer of employment.
