About the Role:

As an Underground Construction Laborer, you’ll be a key part of our Directional Drilling crew, assisting with the installation of duct and fiber optic cable. From preparing construction sites to operating equipment and ensuring safety, you’ll help keep projects moving smoothly while gaining hands-on experience in one of the most exciting fields in tech.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the crew with all aspects of construction work, from digging trenches to installing fiber optic cables.
  • Operate construction vehicles and bucket lifts, while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance—check fluids, keep vehicles clean, and organize materials for smooth operations.
  • Direct traffic flow around construction sites, ensuring safety for both the crew and the public, while adhering to local and state DOT guidelines.
  • Handle construction materials—help with loading/unloading and prepare sites by removing obstacles and hazards.
  • Provide hands-on support for skilled workers and help with site clean-up at the end of each day.
  • Be a part of the Directional Drilling team, assisting with everything from equipment setup to trenching, backfilling, and fiber optic cable installation.

Key Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • 1-2 years of construction experience or similar role.
  • Valid Driver’s License (required).
  • Basic knowledge of construction principles and the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well with the team.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in various conditions and travel across counties in Indiana.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about safety systems related to aerial cables and construction sites.

Additional Notes:

  • This role may require on-call availability and emergency response between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
  • Be prepared for weekend worknight shifts, and overnight travel on occasion.
  • Field-based role with daily outdoor and indoor work in all types of conditions—get ready for variety!
