POSITION SUMMARY

The Stock Associate supports The Mustard Seed Thrift on Mission’s daily operations by ensuring merchandise moves efficiently from donation processing areas to the sales floor. This role helps maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment while supporting both customer-facing and back-of-store functions. The Stock Associate contributes to a positive shopping and donation experience while advancing the organization’s mission.

The Stock Associate position is available at the Corydon and Floyd County locations

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Front-of-Store

• Greet customers.
• Communicate the mission of The Mustard Seed Thrift to donors and customers.
• Place merchandise on the sales floor according to store layout and merchandising standards.
• Support the cashier (bag clothes).
• Maintain floor flow by organizing racks, shelves, and misplaced items.
• Assist customers with locating merchandise when needed.
• Rotate merchandise.
• Move the empty hangers to the donation receiving area.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized sales floor areas.
• Support seasonal resets, displays, and merchandising updates.
• Assist with loading purchased furniture and large items for customers.
• Other duties as assigned

Back-of-Store

• Accept donations & ensure safe unloading of items.
  • Greet donors.
  • Communicate the mission of The Mustard Seed Thrift to donors and customers.
  • Conduct primary sorting of donated items
  • Move product to secondary sorting areas
  • Follow store guidelines for what cannot be accepted or sold.
• Price merchandise using established pricing guidelines
  • Ensure pricing consistency across product categories
  • Create and attach labels or tags to items accurately and securely
  • Verify items for quality, cleanliness, and sale readiness
  • Hang clothing and prepare racks for floor placement
• Assist in maintaining backroom cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
• Move furniture, merchandise, and donation bins between areas of the store.
• Assist with the stock merchandise between areas of the store.
• Follow safety practices when lifting or moving merchandise
• Address workflow needs or safety concerns, escalate to leadership when appropriate
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to follow directions and work both independently and collaboratively
• Retail, warehouse, stocking, or thrift store experience preferred
• Commitment to supporting a mission-driven nonprofit environment
