POSITION SUMMARY

The Processing Lead is responsible for ensuring we are good stewards of donations.  The role oversees donations intake, mission communications, pricing, processing, workflows, backroom organization & merchandise flow from donations to the sales floor. This role ensures donations are handled efficiently and safely in accordance with store quality standards and procedures, while supporting staff and coordinating volunteers in the processing area. The Back End Store Leader helps maintain consistent workflows, productivity, and safety practices while reinforcing The Mustard Seed Thrift’s mission.

 The Processing Lead position is open at the Floyd County location

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise donation intake and processing operations during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate the sorting, pricing, and merchandise-preparation workflow.
  • Ensure donations move efficiently from intake to floor-ready merchandise.
  • Work with the Store Leader to optimize the BE layout.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe processing and storage areas.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to donation-processing associates, utility associates, and volunteers.
  • Monitor quality standards for resale merchandise.
  • Support furniture movement and backroom organization.
  • Oversee donation volume, workflow needs, and operational concerns, addressing when possible, escalating to the Store Leader when appropriate.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and new hires
  • Support store readiness by coordinating with front-of-store leadership, warehouse team & E-Commerce department.
  • Uphold the mission and values of The Mustard Seed Thrift through leadership and example.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong organization and workflow coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and material handling.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable attendance and leadership reliability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
  • Retail, thrift store, or nonprofit experience preferred.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors during donation intake.
