Job Summary:
Creates, writes and records numerical control programs with knowledge of machine fixtures and tools that automatically mill, drill, ream, or bore parts.
Knowledge and Skills (Education):
- Must have ability to read blueprints
- Minimum 3 – 4 years CNC experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Ability to follow well defined procedures, with organization skills
- Must be capable of generating complex tool paths from CAM software
- Certificate or degree in CNC machining preferred
Major Accountabilities:
- Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced tools in order to perform precision machining operations
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Interpret drawings to write programs for CNC machines that include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production standards
- Create setup sheets based on tooling selection criteria
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of each job’s initial setup requirements to maximize efficiencies
- Revise programs and documentation-based engineering changes
- Maintain library of programs
- Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements to maximize efficiencies
- Applies knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to the job.
- Assists in the solution of complex plant operating problems and/or cost reduction projects
- Confers with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information

- Make prototypes and one-of-a-kind pieces from a sample
- Required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company 0policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations
- Abide by all company polices including, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on Equipment
