SAT/ACT Test Preparation Classes
Taking the SAT or ACT college entrance exams is an important step in the college preparation process. These tests, although with slightly different components, measure the critical thinking skills needed for academic success in college.
Harrison County Lifelong Learning uses TestGEAR online software for the test preparation classes. The software offers many advantages, including:
- An initial diagnosis tool called a BrainScan that assesses students' skills and taylors a curriculum of study to each student
- MicroCourse lessons to address basic skills with content aligned to testing objectives
- Practorials to provide a comprehensive review of test-taking strategies, tips and tricks
- TestSCOPE that enables detailed tracking and reporting, allowing the teacher to provide individualized assistance
Harrison County Lifelong Learning has test preparation classes schedule throughout the 2007-2008 school year. Tuition is $60 per students and class meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., for 4 weeks before an official test is to be administered. In addition to class time, students receive a full length, proctored and scored practice test on a Saturday morning and 1-year subscription to the TestGEAR online software. College Countdown Seminars
In an effort to prepare both students and parents for the college application process, Harrison County Lifelong Learning partners with local school corporations to present College Countdown seminars. The seminars are held at the beginning of each school year and open to sophomore, junior and senior high school students and their families. Student action plans, SAT/ACT preparation and registration, the college application process, online resources and financial aid information is presented at each seminar.
